KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE CLASSROOM

February flew by as we celebrated Valentines and the 100th day!  Snow days and 4 day weekend also helped pass the time.  The children had such a fun time learning about the Olympics!  They loved playing Hockey and we also watched some of the ladies Figure Skating competition live!  It was enjoyable to see such enthusiastic children and hear their reactions to the skaters and updates on the medals!

We are finishing Unit 5 on Jesus’ miracles.  Unit 6 will be about his Parables and what they mean for us abut heaven and God’s love.

Math continues to go well.  The concepts build on each other and are getting harder.  We are in good shape to finish by the end of the year.

Language Arts also continues to move right along.  The Kindergarteners will finish their ABC’s in March, and we will switch from learning sounds, to reinforcing sight words and using the sounds that we have learned.  1st graders are switching to a more difficult section where they will focus on grammar, and not as much phonics.  I have sent a note home about the switch.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.   I have really enjoyed their ABC/Sound Books from both grades.  The creativity is fun to see!

In Science we are finishing up a unit on energy which includes, light sound, and electricity.  March will bring a social Studies Unit on People and their work.

Thank you to PTL for the wonderful Community dinners that we have had!  Don’t forget to mark on your calendar that on March 21 we will have a pancake and waffle dinner!  Gertrude Hawk Candy is due March 14.  To learn more about our fundraisers and events, join us on March 4 for our next PTL Meeting.  Dinner will be @ 5:30, followed by the meeting.

Thanks for everyone’s help on 100th day projects and for our Valentine’s Party!  Your help and support enhances your child’s educational experience!

God Bless!
